Wheelchair Porch Lifts in Hummelstown and Lower Paxton, PA
Lower Paxton Township has more than 10,000 residents over 65, and its housing, post-war ranches and 1970s split-levels in Colonial Park and Paxtonia and later two-stories around Linglestown, has decks, garages, and split entries rather than the city's stoops. A porch lift in Hummelstown or Lower Paxton usually means a lift beside a deck or inside a garage, like the one pictured, and we have a platform lift install in Hummelstown already.
Suburban decks, garages, and split entries
The Harrisburg platform lift page covers the city's high porches and public buildings. Out here the problem is different: a raised deck off the kitchen, a garage three or four steps below the main floor, a split-level entry with a half flight either way, or a ranch with a front porch and a yard that slopes. A Multilift on a pad beside the deck, or on the garage floor rising to the door into the house, takes about 5 by 6 feet and does not touch the structure. The garage install is the one we like best for Lower Paxton: it stays dry, it is out of sight, and the rider goes from the car to the kitchen without weather. Hummelstown borough's older homes near the square have the front porch version, and South Hanover Township the deck version.
The Penn State Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Hummelstown and Hershey Medical Center next door send a steady number of people home with a chair, and a lift drawing at the first visit lets the pad and circuit start before the discharge.
Why Hummelstown and Lower Paxton choose us
Garage and deck lifts are our favorite install
Dry, out of sight, car to kitchen without weather, and usually no new pad because the slab is there.
Minutes from the rehab hospital
A drawing at the first visit so the prep starts before the discharge, then one day to install.
Ramp when a ramp is right
Under about 30 inches of rise we say so and price the ramp. Above that, the lift saves the yard.

Vertical platform lifts for Lower Paxton and Linglestown homes
For a garage or a deck the lift is almost always the Savaria Multilift, because its rise of 48 to 72 inches matches the three or four steps between a garage slab and the kitchen, and its self-supporting tower stands on the existing floor. It is screw driven, rated 750 lb, outdoor rated for the deck version, and comes with a gate at the top landing and a fold-up ramp at the bottom. Where the deck is higher than 6 feet, the hydraulic Savaria V-1504 takes over, open or enclosed. A split-level entry inside the house can take the Savaria Prolift, an enclosed cab with automatic doors. The Harmar Highlander II is a residential alternative we quote when its sizes fit a particular home better. Battery backup is available on every one of them so the lift runs in an outage. The vertical platform lifts page has the comparison.
What a porch lift costs in Hummelstown
Garage installs are the affordable end of platform lifts, and Lower Paxton has a lot of attached garages. The slab is already there, so there is often no pad to pour; the lift is a short-rise open Multilift, the lower cost model; and the only site work is a dedicated circuit. An outdoor deck lift adds a pad and sometimes an enclosure, which moves the number up. The written quote, within 24 hours of a free visit, shows the lift and any site work on separate lines. Residential lifts need no state permit in Pennsylvania; the township may require a building permit for an outdoor pad, and we handle it. Financing is available. Under about 30 inches of rise a modular ramp is usually the lower cost answer and we price it beside the lift. Brackets are in the FAQ, and the ramp versus lift post explains how to choose.
Installed in a day
We measure the rise, set the landing positions and the gate swing, and give you a drawing for the pad, a level reinforced slab about 4 inches thick where one is needed, and the dedicated 120V 20A circuit. Your electrician or ours does that prep, then we install the lift in a day, test it with the rider, and walk you through the controls and the manual lowering. Straight answers
Platform lifts in Hummelstown: common questions
How much does a porch lift cost in Lower Paxton?
Typically the low to mid five figures installed, and a garage install is often at the lower end of that because the slab is already there and no outdoor enclosure is needed. The quote shows the lift and any site work separately.
Can a wheelchair lift go inside my garage in Linglestown?
Yes, and it is the install we recommend first when the garage is attached. The Multilift sits on the existing slab and rises to the door into the house, with a gate at the top landing.
Can a platform lift serve a deck?
Yes. A Multilift or V-1504 on a pad beside the deck with a gate at deck level. The enclosed version keeps the rider out of the weather.
What about a split-level entry?
A short-rise Multilift handles the half flight at the entry, or an enclosed Prolift indoors where the owner wants a cab. We look at the landing space at the visit.
Do I need a permit for a home wheelchair lift in Lower Paxton Township?
Pennsylvania does not permit or inspect residential lifts, so there is no state paperwork. A garage install needs nothing from the township either in most cases; an outdoor pad may need a building permit, which we file with the drawing.
