Our Stairlift Rental Program

A stairlift when you need it — without the full purchase price

Not everyone needs a permanent stairlift. Maybe you're recovering from surgery, maybe a parent is staying with you for a while, or maybe you're just not sure how long you'll need one. That's exactly why we started offering rentals.

Our rental program gives you a professionally installed stairlift in your home for a fraction of the cost of buying one. There's a 3-month minimum, and after that you're month-to-month — keep it as long as you need, and when you're done, we come take it out. Simple as that.

Every rental stairlift is fully covered under warranty for the entire time it's in your home. If something goes wrong, we fix it.

What does it cost?

There's one payment of $1,095 due when you sign, and that covers everything to get started:

  • $645 for professional installation and removal (both included)

  • $450 for your first three months of rental ($150/month)

After those first three months, it's $150 a month until you decide you don't need it anymore. Give us 30 days notice and we'll come pick it up — no extra charge for the removal since that was already included upfront.

A mileage fee applies if you're more than 30 miles out from our service area. And if we show up for a scheduled install or removal and can't get access to the home, there may be a trip charge.

Who rents a stairlift?

Honestly, it's a wider range of people than you'd think. We've set up rentals for families bringing a parent home after hip surgery, for homeowners who have a guest with mobility challenges coming to stay, and for people who aren't sure yet whether they want to commit to buying. Some folks rent for three months and return it. Others have had theirs for over a year and are perfectly happy paying monthly.

The rental makes a lot of sense if you're not sure how long you'll need a stairlift, or if you'd rather keep your options open instead of spending a few thousand dollars on a purchase.

How the process works

It starts with a phone call or a form submission — we'll set up a free in-home visit to look at your staircase, take some measurements, and make sure a rental unit is available for your setup.

Once everything checks out, you sign the rental agreement and pay the $1,095. We schedule your installation, usually within a week or two, and our technician handles everything from there. The whole install typically takes about three hours.

When you're ready to have it removed, just let us know with 30 days notice. We'll send someone out — removal usually takes under an hour — and that's it. Nothing else to worry about.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to rent a stairlift?

It's $1,095 to get started, which covers your installation, removal, and the first three months. After that it's $150 a month with no long-term commitment. Just give us 30 days notice when you want it picked up.

How much does it cost to buy a stairlift instead?

A new straight stairlift typically runs between $2,900 and $8,000 depending on the staircase length, the model, and any upgrades. That includes installation. We also sell certified preowned stairlifts ranging from $1,600 to $4,500 — those are a great option if you know you'll need one long-term.

Does Keystone Accessibility offer financing on purchases?

Yes — we have financing options starting as low as $59 per month for qualified buyers. If you'd rather own your stairlift but spread the payments out, financing might be a better fit than renting.

Should I buy a stairlift online or from a local dealer?

Buying online might save you a little upfront, but you're usually on your own for installation, and warranty coverage can be hard to come by. When you work with us, installation is included, your stairlift is covered by warranty, and if you ever need service or repairs down the road, we're a phone call away. That peace of mind is worth a lot, especially with something your family depends on every day.

Do I need a grab bar with my stairlift?

It's not required, but a lot of our customers find it helpful — especially at the top of the stairs where you're standing up from the seat. We install 16" stainless steel grab bars for $75, parts and labor included.
