Stair Lift Rental in Harrisburg, PA
A stair lift rental near you, with the price on the page: $1,295 to start, which covers installation, removal, and the first three months, then $150 a month for as long as you need it. For Harrisburg families bringing someone home from Hershey Medical Center, UPMC Harrisburg, or a rehab stay, a rented straight stairlift is often installed within days and gone the week it is no longer needed.
Who rents a stairlift in Harrisburg
Most of our Harrisburg rentals are short-term: a hip or knee replacement at UPMC Harrisburg or Penn State Health Holy Spirit, a heart surgery recovery, a broken ankle, or a discharge from the Penn State Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Hummelstown with orders to avoid stairs for twelve weeks. The bedrooms and the only full bath are upstairs in most Harrisburg homes, from the Midtown and Uptown rowhomes to the Cape Cods in Paxtang and the split-levels of Colonial Park and Linglestown, and the alternative to a rental is a bed in the dining room.
The second group is families with a parent staying for a season or moving in while a longer plan comes together. The third is people who are not sure yet whether they will buy, move, or add a first-floor bedroom; renting for a year costs less than guessing wrong. Some of those renters keep the lift for years and are happy to.

What you get and what it costs
The rental unit is a straight Savaria K2 from our fleet, rated 350 lb, installed exactly like a purchased lift: the rail cut for your staircase, the seat set for the rider, two remotes, and a walkthrough. It charges continuously along the rail and runs through a power outage. Repairs are covered for the entire rental.
The price is fixed and the same for every Harrisburg home: $845 paid once for installation and removal, plus $450 for the first three months, so $1,295 is due when you sign. From month four it is $150 a month, cancel with two weeks notice. A mileage charge applies beyond 30 miles of our service area, which Harrisburg is well inside. Other companies in the market list rentals without a price; ours is on the stairlift rental page and here, so you can compare before you call.
Rental, used, or new: which fits a Harrisburg home
Renting is right when the need is likely under two years or uncertain. A certified pre-owned stairlift costs more up front but is yours, with a 3 month service warranty, and makes sense when the stairs will be a long-term concern. A new K2 is the best long-term value for daily use over many years, and financing can spread it out. We will tell you which one we would choose for your situation, and if you rent and later decide to keep a lift, we quote a purchase price for that unit or for a new one and talk about how the rent you have paid factors in. Curved staircases cannot be rented, because a curved rail is built for one staircase; for a landing with a turn we can sometimes rent two straight lifts. Our blog post on whether you can rent a stairlift covers the rest.

Straight answers
Stairlift rental in Harrisburg: common questions
How much does it cost to rent a stair lift in Harrisburg?
$1,295 to start, which covers installation, removal, and the first three months, then $150 a month. There is no mileage charge in Harrisburg or the surrounding Dauphin and Cumberland County towns.
How quickly can a rental stairlift be installed in Harrisburg?
Usually within one to two weeks of the first call, and faster when there is a hospital discharge date. Tell us the date and we will do what we can to beat it.
Is there a minimum rental period?
Three months, which the first payment covers. After that it is month to month, and you can cancel with two weeks notice.
Can I rent a stairlift for a curved staircase in Harrisburg?
No. Curved rails are built for one staircase and cannot be reused. If the staircase has a landing, two straight rental lifts with a transfer at the landing sometimes work; we look at it in person.
What if I decide to keep the stairlift?
We quote a purchase price for the rental unit or a new Savaria K2 and discuss how the rent you have paid factors in. Many renters do exactly that.
Does a rental include repairs?
Yes. Repairs are covered for the entire rental period at no charge. Call us and we fix it.
